Ultrasound

I had a quick (about 10 min.) ultrasound this morning to find out how our little guy is doing. Dr. Song ordered this ultrasound because my BP is starting to increase. She wanted to double check that all is well inside.

First of all, the baby's sex was confirmed again, (not that we had any doubt the first time around...as he was not shy). The tech noticed right away that he was doing breathing exercises. She checked the blood flow in the umbilical cord (looked great) and his head circumference (I'll find out more about that at my normal dr. appointment tomorrow afternoon). She asked me about my previous pregnancy and when I told her she did a biophysical on Owen last time, she did a few of those tests on this little guy. Well he passed with flying colors...this early! He is doing well in there. The tech said my BP is not affecting his growth one bit. He is a big boy...just about 5 lbs. already. I think she said 4 lb. 13 oz. was the estimate. She said I just grow them big and that he was already trying to keep up with his big brother.

This really makes me feel better about having this 'little' guy early. Everything Dr. Song has been indicating to me is that I'll go early or they'll have to take him early. So, at least I know he's in good health for a 31 week baby!

The tech also tried to get a good peek at his face (using 3-D), but he hid behind his hand...just like before (Owen did the same thing). Sometimes I think that I have a clone of Owen growing in me.
