As of this morning I am not going to be going through the long and tiring concert week. Last night at practice during warm-ups, I started to get really hot. I drank some water, but that didn't seem to help. I just kept getting warmer. It reminded me of the times I blacked-out after giving blood. So, I sat down for the remainder of warm-ups. One of the girls next to me asked me if I was going to faint and I told her I thought I was, but felt a little better after sitting down. She said she had the same problem when she was pregnant. She almost fainted during warm-ups too and had to lay on the floor (at a voice lesson, not at Chorale practice). That made me feel a little better, but I was still concerned. Later in the evening when I was feeling fine, we stood up to do two of the pieces songs. They are both long. Well, I had to sit down to 2 pages left to go because I just didn't feel right again.
This morning I sent me email regretting that I needed bow out of the remainder of the practices and concerts as I know I will not be able to stand for the required 90 minute performance. As our director puts it....Beethoven's 9th is a 5k compared to his Missa Solmnis...a full marathon. Well, I totally agree with that statement now! (I always knew I wasn't cut out for a marathon.)
UPDATE: After talking with Kathy (our chorale director), I guess they are willing to let me sit during the entire performance of the piece. So, I'm going to try that during practice on Sunday and see how that goes.

I hope sitting works. I would like to come to a performance.
