No Concert Week for Me

As of this morning I am not going to be going through the long and tiring concert week. Last night at practice during warm-ups, I started to get really hot. I drank some water, but that didn't seem to help. I just kept getting warmer. It reminded me of the times I blacked-out after giving blood. So, I sat down for the remainder of warm-ups. One of the girls next to me asked me if I was going to faint and I told her I thought I was, but felt a little better after sitting down. She said she had the same problem when she was pregnant. She almost fainted during warm-ups too and had to lay on the floor (at a voice lesson, not at Chorale practice). That made me feel a little better, but I was still concerned. Later in the evening when I was feeling fine, we stood up to do two of the pieces songs. They are both long. Well, I had to sit down to 2 pages left to go because I just didn't feel right again.

This morning I sent me email regretting that I needed bow out of the remainder of the practices and concerts as I know I will not be able to stand for the required 90 minute performance. As our director puts it....Beethoven's 9th is a 5k compared to his Missa Solmnis...a full marathon. Well, I totally agree with that statement now! (I always knew I wasn't cut out for a marathon.)

UPDATE: After talking with Kathy (our chorale director), I guess they are willing to let me sit during the entire performance of the piece. So, I'm going to try that during practice on Sunday and see how that goes.

A Falling Chandelier

Mom took me to Phantom of the Opera on Saturday for my birthday present. It was very good! The last scene was the very best and made it work the entire price of the ticket. Our Phantom was spectacular. In the playbill we noticed that there was different guy playing Phantom just the previous week. I have no idea how they would compare, but I sure am glad we got to see the guy we did. Mom and I were very impressed.

Owen had a blast when Uncle Ash and Marcie came over Saturday evening after supper. We met them at Famous Dave's (yum!). Ash played ring around the rosie with Owen and threw him up in the air. Owen just keep saying, "Again!" Grandma, Marcie, Scott and I had a great time laughing at them both.

Also, a very important day in our family....HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD!!

It's also Derek Stovern's birthday today. Happy Birthday, Derek!

Curb Appeal

We've had a few landscapers come and check out our front yard this week. We'd like to have something else done there and cover up the concrete of the front porch. We're a little nervous to see what the estimates come back as. But hopefully we'll have all estimates next week and see their ideas and if we can afford them. Scott and I are not landscapers, so we're going this route.

Last weekend Scott's parents were up to watch Owen Saturday night while I got to go on a date with my hubby for my birthday. We went to eat at Chianti Grill and saw Angels and Demons. Grandma and Grandpa say Owen was very good....hummm.

Sunday Scott and his dad were busy with projects around the house. Our egress window is now covered. The lawn mower blade got sharpened AND we got our new storm door on! Those two were work horses. It sure is nice to open the front door and have the door there, open the screen, then open the patio door too. It lets a very nice breeze flow through the house.

Kotula Model

This morning I am taking Owen to work with me. He is going to be the Baby Flair Hair model. At least we're going to try. I hope he sits long enough for a couple quick pictures! I need to remember to bring my hat along too, so he'll wear his hat.

This last weekend we had a lot of fun at Tami and Derek's. We drove out there on Friday in the rain. Saturday was Abby's birthday party. She turned four on Sunday. Owen had so much fun playing with his cousins. They all got to stay up late and play. When we left on Sunday, Owen fell asleep about 20 minutes from their home. He was tired!
